grey heron (leucistic form)
First thought to be an egret this is actually a leucistic form of grey heron seen at Lochranza, Isle of Arran, in April 2026.
Affectionately named Lucie, this bird is a well-documented resident at this location. Sightings go back as far as 2017.
This bird has an almost completely white plumage due to a loss of pigmentation.
