brown argus
No cell spot on forewing underside. Pair of black spots (like a colon) on edge of hindwing are a good identifier.
Strong orange lunules on both wings, right to the apex. No blue scales.
One of the spots in the 'colon' is very weak.
Ths specimen has a very strong black 'colon' at wing edge.
No blue scales on upperside (unlike common blue).
Resembles Chapman's blue (extended orange lunules and sandy background colour) but this has a 'colon'.
mating
Upper butterfly does not appear to have a 'colon' near the edge of the hindwing but the lower one does.
